A recent study found that Connecticut is short over 300,000 homes, at current permitting rates it would take over 60 years to fill this deficit assuming zero new growth over that period - Just to house the people who already want to live in Connecticut.
Today, the permitting process for new housing can stretch years and is rife with arbitrary and capricious denials. Reforming the permitting process is key to getting more homes built. Over 4,000 homes are being denied per year during permitting based on recent research.
Connecticut has the best walkable Main Streets in the country and they can be even greater versions of themselves with more neighbors.
